Books by Dr. Loree Pinnavaia
The Longevity Trap asks what actually matters for a long, healthy life — and what the industry would rather you didn’t know. Women’s Thriveology is the practical playbook for the women Dr. Loree sees most: what changes after 55, and what to do about it.

Why the Obsessive Pursuit of Health Is Making Us Sick — and How to Actually Live Well
By Ben Dubin and Dr. Loree Pinnavaia. One of us is an engineer and venture capitalist who approached his body like a system to be optimized. The other is a clinician who read the actual research behind every intervention her patients were trying. We compared notes in 2020 and found the same thing from opposite sides: intelligent, well-meaning people making themselves miserable — and often less healthy — in the pursuit of living forever.

Enhanced Longevity for a Remarkable Physique, Boundless Energy, and Achieving Calm in Your Second Act
By Dr. Loree Pinnavaia. Somewhere around 55, the rules a woman has been following stop working: the diet that used to drop five pounds adds ten, the workout that kept her fit leaves her exhausted, and her doctor calls it “normal aging.” This book is the playbook for that life stage — built from the ground up for women after menopause, not adapted from programs designed for men or for younger women, and demanding evidence for everything.

Inside The Longevity Trap · The core message
Sleep. Move. Eat real food. Connect. Find purpose. And let go of the rest.
The five foundations of longevity
Not mouse studies or twelve-week trials, but the large studies that follow real people over decades: the Harvard Study of Adult Development, the Nurses’ Health Study, the UK Biobank, and meta-analyses drawing on millions of participants.
7–9 hours, consistently. Short sleep is associated with about 12% higher mortality risk. No supplement replaces it — and tracking it can create its own anxiety.
Daily, in ways you’ll sustain. Meeting basic guidelines is associated with ~31% lower mortality than inactivity. The gain is moving versus not moving — not optimizing intensity.
Whole foods, mostly plants, shared with others. Mediterranean-style eating shows consistent benefits. Stress about food may do more harm than imperfect choices.
Possibly the strongest predictor of all. Lacking social connection carries mortality risks that rival smoking. The people who love you are your best longevity intervention.
Something to live for beyond survival. In one major study, the highest-purpose group had less than half the death rate of the lowest. Health should serve your purpose, not replace it.
Woven through all five is a sixth truth: chronic stress accelerates aging. If your pursuit of health is itself a source of stress, something has gone wrong.
The escape tool kit
Five questions Dr. Loree has used with patients for years. Most longevity claims collapse under them.
For every supplement, test, device or protocol you currently use, three questions:
Most people who do this honestly find the majority of their interventions belong in the first column. That isn’t failure — it’s liberation.
The key numbers behind each foundation, with the studies they come from and their limits. Use them for scale whenever you meet a new claim: how big is this effect, measured how, in how many people?
“The principle that ties them together: when in doubt, subtract.”
Is it time to simplify?
The book in practice
The Longevity Trap challenges the longevity industry’s incentives, excesses and questionable claims. Thriveology leads with the positive alternative — clinical guidance grounded in evidence and your individual needs. The two reinforce each other without being identical.
See the clinical decision frameworkThriveology offers a balanced, personalized approach — the right intervention, for the right person, at the right time.
Thriveology evaluates interventions thoughtfully — testing when it clarifies an important question or changes a decision, and distinguishing validated targets from unproven “optimal” ranges.
Thriveology helps you build sustainable health behaviors — because knowing what matters and consistently doing it are two different things, and the second is where coaching earns its place.
Your daily checklist
If you checked all five today, you did more for your longevity than any supplement, device or protocol could provide.
